Magical Wedding in Umeå, Sweden

I love photographing Weddings, and this Wedding was just magical through and through. Every detail thought out and set in the most beautiful place; the bride and grooms home.

The couple spent the morning doing all the preparations and getting dressed at their friends home, who also happen to be their very close neighbours. From there I whisked them and their two sweet kids away to the surrounding landscape for some portraits in the forest and on a field.

The ceremony took place on a sandbank in the middle of the river that flows past the bride and grooms home. All the guests were ferried there by boat to witness the barefoot wedding.

The dinner and after-party were held in the big barn in the front yard of Anna-Clara and Göran’s home. Speeches, laughter and tears of joy combined with an amazing buffet dinner.

I managed to sneak the bride and groom away from their guests after dinner to catch this stunning Swedish sunset at the sandbank in the river. I love these portraits, especially since they were taken at the very same place where they said: “I do”.

Afterwards, the band played and the full-on party with dancing kept the guests warm until the early morning. The temperature dropped for the first time in weeks to 9°C that night after weeks of heat records both day and night, but the guests were all kept warm with dancing, wine and blankets.

The big surprise of the day for me was that an old classmate of mine happens to be the next door neighbour to the bride and groom, and we were seated next to each other at the dinner and managed to catch up on what life has been like since we last met at our high school graduation 25 years ago. So much fun!

A perfect DIY wedding in the countryside in the north of Sweden.
